EAMCET stands for Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test and EAPCET stands for Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test It is a state-level entrance examination conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) and Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE).
EAMCET/ EAPCET is conducted for admissions to various undergraduate programs in the fields of engineering, agriculture, and medicine in colleges located in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The exam is usually held in the month of May every year, and the notification for the same is usually released in February or March.
The EAMCET/ EAPCET exam comprises of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and is conducted in an offline mode. The exam consists of three sections: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The duration of the exam is three hours, and the total marks are 160.
Candidates who have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for engineering) or Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (for medicine and agriculture) as compulsory subjects are eligible to apply for the EAMCET/ EAPCET exam. The eligibility criteria vary for different courses and colleges, and candidates are advised to check the official notification for the same.
Based on the scores obtained by the candidates in the EAMCET/EAPCET exam, a merit list is prepared, and candidates are called for the counseling process. During counseling, candidates have to select their preferred course and college, and seats are allotted based on the availability and the candidate's rank.
